The Stop the Bleed & Hands-Only CPR Training and Heatwave Education Program is a grassroots effort to train the monolingual Chinese community with the proper use of a tourniquet in excessive bleeding emergencies, in applying hands-only CPR to breathing emergencies that can lead to cardiac arrest, and how to react to any heat-related illness due to climate change and wildfire. Bilingual youth volunteers from CYC’s Youth for Community Engagement (YCE) program will be trained as trainers to run the program by incorporating their intergenerational and multi-language approach. The program is free to the Chinese monolingual community and seniors in SF.
