According to the Asian Diabetes Prevention Initiative, 60% of the world’s diabetic population is Asian. The latest research shows that this higher risk may be related to Asians having more body fat around the organs and in the abdomen than other populations. The good news is that diabetes is manageable and the risks can be prevented. Nevertheless, uncontrolled diabetes leads to costly complications including heart disease and kidney failure.
